⚠️ Important: from 26 March 2026 — asylum seekers with Permission to Work

From 26 March 2026, asylum seekers with Permission to Work (PTW) can only work in roles requiring RQF Level 6+ qualifications (skilled work requiring sponsorship and a degree). This means:

  • NOT ALLOWED: cleaning, security, warehouse, hotels — these roles are below RQF Level 6
  • ALLOWED: Skilled Worker visa with a sponsor letter + RQF 6+ profession (doctor, engineer, IT)
  • ALLOWED: unpaid volunteering — no restrictions
  • ALLOWED: charity training programmes (Breaking Barriers, RefuAid, STEP — free)
