Do I need documents to register with a GP?
No. You do not need a passport, ARC card, proof of address, or immigration status. Just an address (even a hotel), your name and date of birth. By law, a GP must register you.
GP refused โ what should I do?
Say: "I have a right to register. Please check CQC mythbuster 36". Ask for a written refusal. File a complaint with NHS England or Healthwatch. Or simply try another GP.
How do I get free prescriptions?
Apply for HC2 online (form HC1, 10 minutes). On Section 95 โ approved automatically. With HC2 you get free: prescriptions, NHS dentist, eye tests, hospital travel. Valid for 6 months.
Is there free mental health support?
Yes. Your GP can refer you to free psychotherapy (NHS Talking Therapies, 6-20 sessions). Antidepressants if needed. It is confidential โ the doctor does not report to the Home Office. Emergency: Samaritans 116 123 (24/7).
How do I find a dentist?
On nhs.uk/service-search/find-a-dentist. Call and ask: "Are you accepting new NHS patients?". Places are limited โ call 5-10 clinics. Severe pain: call 111, they will direct you to an emergency dentist the same day.
What should I do in an emergency?
999 โ ambulance and police (free). 111 โ NHS helpline 24/7 (free, interpreters available). A&E โ hospital emergency department (free for everyone).
