African Community in Scotland relieves the suffering, hardship and distress of people from Africa who have become refugees or asylum seekers and whose country of refuge is Scotland, and advances their education. It assists individuals and families across the regions of Scotland, coordinating information for voluntary organisations and statutory authorities engaged in relocation and in providing education, health, housing and social services to refugees and asylum seekers, educates the public and makes representations on issues affecting them so that their voices are heard in governance and decision-making. It also supports young people through sports, providing access to facilities, training programmes and mentorship to protect them from anti-social behaviour and drug addiction and to promote their physical and mental health and wellbeing.
