2. What Data We Collect

This website is a static informational resource. We collect minimal data:

  • Cookie consent preference — stored locally in your browser (localStorage). Not sent to any server.
  • Language preference — stored locally in your browser (localStorage). Not sent to any server.

We do not collect personal data, emails, names, IP addresses, or any form of user registration data through this website.

3. Cookies and Analytics

This website uses browser localStorage for essential preferences (no cookies):

  • snl-cookies-v3 — your choice by category (necessary, statistics, session recordings, functional)
  • snl-lang — your preferred language

For visit statistics we use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID: G-XQKR0VRM9V). Since July 2026 it is on by default under the statistics exception in PECR regulation 6 (Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, in force since 5 February 2026):

  • Statistics only — anonymous visit counting to improve this site. Google's advertising features are permanently denied, Google Signals is not used, the IP address is anonymised, and Google data-sharing for its own purposes is switched off in GA4 admin.
  • A simple opt-out — the "Statistics" toggle in "Cookie settings" (footer link on every page). Once off, the counter is disabled, the _ga / _ga_XQKR0VRM9V cookies are deleted, and your choice is remembered.
  • Session recordings (Microsoft Clarity) — a separate technology that records page interaction (clicks, scrolling) so we can fix confusing spots. It is not covered by the statistics exception and runs only with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw in settings at any time.

We may also enable Cloudflare Web Analytics — a cookieless, privacy-first measurement service operated by our hosting provider. It does not set cookies, does not track visitors across sites, and processes data on Cloudflare's edge. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the website footer.

For a full list of storage we use, see our Cookie Policy.

4. Third-Party Services

  • Google Fonts — loaded on all pages. Google may collect your IP address. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymous visit statistics, on by default under the PECR statistics exception; switch off in "Cookie settings". Advertising and Google data-sharing are off; IP is always anonymised. See Google Analytics data practices.
  • Microsoft Clarity — session recordings (clicks, scrolling) to improve usability. Loads only after your consent; withdraw it in "Cookie settings". See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • Cloudflare — provides CDN, security, and (optionally) cookieless Web Analytics. Cloudflare may process your IP address and set security cookies. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
  • SiBot chat widget — our AI assistant loaded on some pages. Chat messages are processed by our self-hosted Chatwoot instance and AI model. No personally identifiable information is required to use the chat.

External links (YouTube, Telegram, NHS, GOV.UK) are governed by their respective privacy policies.

5. Legal Basis

Where we process data, our legal basis under UK GDPR is:

  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR; PECR regulation 6) — for Microsoft Clarity session recordings and functional cookies.
  • Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) — for essential site functionality (language preference, choice storage) and anonymous visit statistics, which fall under the PECR statistics exception (regulation 6, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025).

6. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access — request what data we hold about you
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data
  • Restriction — limit how we process your data
  • Portability — receive your data in a portable format
  • Object — object to data processing
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting prior processing

To exercise any of these rights, contact hello@snluk.org.

7. Complaints

If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you can lodge a complaint with the UK's supervisory authority:
