Single 25+: £424.90/month. Single <25: £338.58/month. Couple 25+: £666.97/month. Couple <25: £528.34/month. Plus child element £303.94/month per child (two-child limit removed 6 April 2026), Housing element, LCWRA if you are unwell (+£429.80 protected or +£217.26 new claim).
When should I apply for UC after getting status?
On the very first day after you get Refugee Status. UC backdating to the date of the asylum decision does NOT exist — maximum 1 month and only in special circumstances. Asylum support ends after 42 days (March 2026 rule). UC arrives after 5 weeks.
What are the main changes in April 2026?
Two-child limit removed. Standard allowance +6.2% (UC Act 2025). LCWRA two-tier: protected £429.80 vs new £217.26. DHP replaced by CRF Housing Payment from 1 April 2026. Deduction cap reduced 25% → 15% (April 2025). AET raised to £991/£1,597.
Is PIP part of UC?
No. PIP is a separate payment for people with disabilities or chronic conditions, up to £194.60/week. Not income-based. You can receive it together with UC. From 2028, PIP daily living will become a gateway to the UC health element. See /en/pip/.
What is LCWRA?
A top-up to UC if your health (physical or mental — PTSD, severe depression) means you cannot work. +£429.80/month if you claimed before 6 April 2026 (protected rate) or +£217.26 for new claims. 73% of UC WCA decisions = LCWRA. See /en/lcwra/.
