Provides relief and rehabilitation for people who have been tortured, or traumatised by observing torture or related violence against those close to them, anywhere in the world, and for members of their families. It educates, trains and supervises legal, medical and other professionals who assist survivors of torture. It promotes human rights by providing legal and welfare advice, medico-legal reports, relief and financial and other assistance to survivors, by raising awareness in the UK and abroad of incidents and patterns of torture and of states' obligations to prevent and prohibit torture, and by working to ensure governments fulfil their human rights obligations relating to torture and torture survivors.
