Activities

HMDT promotes and organises the annual Holocaust Memorial Day, commemorating the victims of the Holocaust, the persecution and mass murder of 6 million Jews by the Nazis and their accomplices in 1933-45. It also remembers the victims of the persecution and murder of other groups targeted by Nazi policies, including Roma, Sinti, black people, mentally and physically disabled people, lesbian and gay people and Slavic peoples. It advances public education in the history of the Holocaust and its contemporary relevance, promotes equality, diversity and harmony between communities, and raises awareness of racism and prejudice and of human rights including freedom from genocide, torture and slavery and the right to asylum from persecution.
