Activities
Provides educational and vocational support to improve the integration of the Refugee, Asylum, BME and Migrant communities, including ESOL classes at different levels, skills enhancement classes and interview skills workshops. It also trains parents of special needs children from a BME background to support their children's education, partnering with organisations such as the Autistic Resource Centre and Home Start. Its stated objects also cover health talks, well-being programmes and fitness classes; facilitated access to recreational services for priority needs groups from a BME background, including women, especially those under abuse, elderly people, children, young people and people with special needs, with interpreters to accompany their attendance; serving as a hub linking these communities with volunteering, internship and placement opportunities; advice and training for unemployed and underemployed people from a BME background who want to start businesses or charities; outreach such as exhibitions and conferences; breaking down barriers through awareness raising and anti-racist and anti-sectarian work; and opportunities for cross-cultural contact such as coffee drop-in sessions.
