Activities
REEM promotes economic and social inclusion among immigrant communities in the Renfrewshire area, especially those from Africa and Eastern Europe, for whom the UK environment may be very foreign in terms of language or otherwise. It aims to create awareness and increase participation of diverse minority ethnic communities in Renfrewshire, engaging marginalised and disadvantaged communities to promote community cohesion, inter-cultural dialogue and equal opportunities. Its work covers health and well-being, advice and information, community events and activities, and social and economic advancement through ESOL, volunteering and empowering services. Current projects include ESOL classes, drop-in surgeries and a befriending service that helps new migrants into the community through a buddy system.
