How to apply
You need a place first: apply to the programme and wait for an offer. Scholarship applications are only considered from people who already hold one.
- Apply for and hold a conditional or unconditional offer of a place at Birmingham Newman University
- Complete the Sanctuary Scholarship application per the published Guidance Notes, confirming your asylum claim was made before your university application
- Arrange a reference from a school, college, community or voluntary group you currently attend
- If progressed, attend an interview to verify the information in your application
- Decision given within five working days of your interview

There is an interview here. It is a conversation about your situation and your study plans, not a subject exam: nobody tests the school syllabus or tries to catch you out. You can answer calmly, in your own words.
