English and Science Summer School
How to apply
You do not need to wait for an offer — the scholarship application can run alongside admission.
- Register via the online Student Application Form (Google Form) before the deadline
- Parent or guardian separately completes the Parent/Guardian Consent Form by the same deadline
- Attend at UCL on the scheduled weekday dates, 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM daily, across two one-week blocks
- Programme is free — transport, food and learning materials are covered by Bridging The Future
How they select
application form
There is no interview — the decision is made on documents. On most routes there are no subject entrance exams either: the main hurdle on the way into university is proving your level of English. The exceptions are medicine, dentistry and creative courses, where tests and portfolios do appear.

- Ask Bridging the Future (contact@bridgingthefuture.org) whether the summer school requires that you have no access to government student finance, or whether refugees who already hold status and receive Student Finance can take part.
- Is it essential that I have no access to student finance? If I already have refugee status, can I still apply?
- What happens to the payments if I am granted refugee status mid-year?

About the institution
Hosted at University College London (UCL). Partner UCL departments: Physics & Astronomy, Electronic & Electrical Engineering (EEE), London Centre for Nanotechnology (LCN), and the UCL Institute of Education (IoE). UCL provides the venue and researcher/student volunteers; this is a free non-fee-paying summer school, not a degree admission, so fee status is not assessed.
