Martingale Postgraduate Scholarship
How to apply
You do not need to wait for an offer — the scholarship application can run alongside admission.
- Stage 1 — Apply to Martingale: complete the online application form (academic transcript, evidence of financial need, two academic referees required; contact recruitment@martingale.foundation if you can't get academic referees) by the final deadline, Sunday 18 October 2026, 23:59
- If shortlisted, attend an in-person interview in November 2026 with academic representatives and a Martingale representative, who assess academic potential, motivation and fit for the cohort
- Outcomes are notified in December 2026; successful 'Qualified Candidates' get Masters/PhD application support (workshops, 1:1 guidance, proofreading, and a PhD Showcase event in December 2026)
- Stage 2 — Apply to partner universities: Qualified Candidates apply directly and separately to one or more of the 10 partner universities in January–February 2027, following each university's own admissions process and deadlines (some earlier)
- University offers are confirmed to Qualified Candidates in March 2027
- Stage 3 — Funding allocation in April 2027: for Masters, submit your university/course preferences and Martingale allocates funded places; for PhD, partner universities make Martingale-funded PhD offers directly at their discretion from their applicant pool. Any Martingale funding is conditional if the university offer itself is conditional

There is an interview here. It is a conversation about your situation and your study plans, not a subject exam: nobody tests the school syllabus or tries to catch you out. You can answer calmly, in your own words.

About the institution
Martingale Foundation is not itself a university — it is a scholarship charity (incubated by Purposeful Ventures) that places funded Masters/PhD scholars at 10 UK partner universities (Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Imperial, Manchester, Oxford, UCL, Warwick, York) for Mathematical Sciences and AI courses. Its own eligibility criteria require applicants to 'qualify for Home Fee status at our partner universities'; the page states that 'if you have refugee status and are eligible for Home Fee status, you are eligible to apply even if you do not meet the minimum requirements for education history in the UK or Ireland.'
