Having no access to student finance is not a condition here: people with recognised refugee status who already receive a student loan can apply.

You do not need to wait for an offer — the scholarship application can run alongside admission.

How they select

There is no interview — the decision is made on documents. On most routes there are no subject entrance exams either: the main hurdle on the way into university is proving your level of English. The exceptions are medicine, dentistry and creative courses, where tests and portfolios do appear.

About the institution

iENGAGE is run by the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine (WWIEM) at Queen's University Belfast, aimed at undergraduate students in Biomedical/Medical/Health/Life Sciences worldwide. Note: the institution's own page does not itself mention refugee, asylum-seeker or forced-displacement eligibility — the only widening-access route named on the page is a separate 'iENGAGE Alumni Scheme' for students from 'disadvantaged backgrounds,' plus the general low-income-country fee waiver.

There are adults, but they are a minority. 14.5% of students are over 30 and 25.2% are over 25 — an average picture for a UK university.
