The Copty Scholarship
How to apply
You need a place first: apply to the programme and wait for an offer. Scholarship applications are only considered from people who already hold one.
- Apply online for a place on an eligible one-year full-time taught Master's programme at Queen's University Belfast (Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences; Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences; the School of Law; or, for the second scholarship, any taught Master's) — allow 2–3 weeks for the course application to be processed
- Once you hold a conditional (or unconditional) offer, complete the online Copty Scholarship application form — applications submitted any other way are not accepted
- Send the supporting documentation specified on the online form by email
- Submit everything by the deadline: Friday 27 February 2026, 17:00 GMT, for 2026/27 entry
What to prepare

- Undergraduate degree equivalent to UK 2.1 or higher from a university in the West Bank or Gaza
- Evidence of English language proficiency: IELTS Academic (SELT or non-SELT) or TOEFL iBT
How they select

There is no interview — the decision is made on documents. On most routes there are no subject entrance exams either: the main hurdle on the way into university is proving your level of English. The exceptions are medicine, dentistry and creative courses, where tests and portfolios do appear.

About the institution
Queen's University Belfast (QUB) is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The Copty Scholarship is restricted to applicants holding Palestinian nationality who have lived in Gaza or the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) and belong to a family normally resident there; it covers international tuition fees plus University accommodation for one year, implying scholars are treated as international-fee students rather than assessed for Home fee status.
There are adults, but they are a minority. 14.5% of students are over 30 and 25.2% are over 25 — an average picture for a UK university.
