David Turton Award (International Online School in Forced Migration)
How to apply
You do not need to wait for an offer — the scholarship application can run alongside admission.
- On the Apply page, choose the bursary application link (separate from the standard-fee application) for either the December School (7–11 Dec 2026) or the June School (21–25 Jun 2027)
- Submit the Microsoft Forms application with: a current CV, a scan/photo of your highest-level qualification, and evidence of English-language proficiency (if applicable)
- Applications are processed on a rolling, first-come-first-served basis once eligibility is confirmed; each cohort is capped at 50 participants, so early application is recommended
- Bursary (David Turton Award) outcomes are typically communicated about one month before the course starts
- If not awarded the bursary but offered a paid place, fee-payment instructions are sent with the offer and the place is confirmed on receipt of payment

There is no interview — the decision is made on documents. On most routes there are no subject entrance exams either: the main hurdle on the way into university is proving your level of English. The exceptions are medicine, dentistry and creative courses, where tests and portfolios do appear.

About the institution
Delivered by the Refugee Studies Centre at the University of Oxford (application administered via Queen Elizabeth House, qeh.ox.ac.uk). The International Online School is a short, fully online course open worldwide, so campus location and Home/Overseas fee-status assessment are not applicable; the David Turton Award bursary route is explicitly 'for applicants with lived experience of displacement.'
There are adults, but they are a minority. 21.4% of students are over 30 and 37.5% are over 25 — an average picture for a UK university.
