How to apply
You do not need to wait for an offer — the scholarship application can run alongside admission.
- Submit a course application to St Andrews (no offer needed yet)
- Wait up to 3 working days for My Application / MySaint login credentials
- Find the Sanctuary Scholarship under Scholarships and Funding in the portal
- Submit a personal statement (max 2 pages), evidence of income or Home Office status, and references before the deadline
- For PGT, email pgscholarships@st-andrews.ac.uk if you need the £50 application fee waived
- Outcome notified by mid-May 2026

There is no interview — the decision is made on documents. On most routes there are no subject entrance exams either: the main hurdle on the way into university is proving your level of English. The exceptions are medicine, dentistry and creative courses, where tests and portfolios do appear.

About the institution
Mostly school leavers. Only 7.9% of students are over 30. If you are over 35, look at other universities on the list — there are more adults there.
