Having no access to student finance is not a condition here: people with recognised refugee status who already receive a student loan can apply.

How to apply

You need a place first: apply to the programme and wait for an offer. Scholarship applications are only considered from people who already hold one.

Be accepted onto an MA course at London College of Communication (UAL) with Home fee status
Complete the online application form via the funding tab in the UAL Student Portal
Upload an electronic portfolio (a single PDF, maximum 20MB) showing an example of your best work
Upload a current CV/résumé
Upload evidence of your household income
A Selection Panel assesses applications on financial need and academic merit

There is no interview — the decision is made on documents. On most routes there are no subject entrance exams either: the main hurdle on the way into university is proving your level of English. The exceptions are medicine, dentistry and creative courses, where tests and portfolios do appear.

About the institution

London College of Communication is one of UAL's constituent colleges, based in Elephant & Castle, London; the bursary is restricted to students with Home fee status.

Mostly school leavers. Only 5.8% of students are over 30. If you are over 35, look at other universities on the list — there are more adults there.
